1. “To be honest, i feel a bit disappointed about The Lyall particularly when you are considering the rate it charges & when it's under the category of boutique hotel. In terms of design & layout of the hotel & rooms, it's a bit conservative & more of the mainstream to me. Decor is really disappointing! The good things about it are great & personal service. & it's situated at a nice & quiet area of city which some travelers may prefer. Last, the generous size of the room impresses me a lot!”

2. “Excellent service, relaxed environmrnt, but addresses the needs of business travellers. Always willing to help you, located in South Yara a vibrant neoghborhood out of the city fray. It feels like home not a hotel.”

3. “This has to be one of the best hotels we have stayed in! The location was absolutely perfect. Just around the corner were several excellent restaurants although the food, wine and particularly the breakfasts were excellent at the hotel too. The shopping was also very good in Toorak Road and Chapel Street. The city was not too far away but it was lovely to stay in a residential area. The tram is only a few steps away.The staff felt like friends and were always extremely helpful.The rooms were so comfortable I felt very at home and was reluctant to leave at the end of our stay.Peter, the owner, was often around and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. He certainly knows how to run a successful hotel. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone. Hopefully one day we will go back.”

4. “Not sure if everyone would think this is a positive, but there is a TV in every room.I stayed in a 2 bedder and there were 4 (!) TV's - never missed a second...Bar is good and you can feel that when this place was built they invested in qualityGood public spaces and if you're a fan of Chapel St/Toorak Rd etc this is for you”
