“room was great but i wish that the shower was not in the main room (but in a seperate room with toilet)Maybe not so cool for design but more comfotable - we were two friends ("just friends") traveling together and a little more privacy would have been great for showering and getting dressed. my friend also found the hotel to be very noisy. . . .i'll sleep through anything . . .service was excellent, food/drinks were only OK, not great . . .”

“The noise was UNBEARABLE: music blared all night in the open spaces - even when no one was there (hotel was almost empty), music from the venue next door - live band sounded like they were in our room. Could hear EVERYTHING from the room next door - their alarm, conversations, etc. Could hear the bar dropping glasses and cleaning up. All of this noise simultaneously and ALL NIGHT. With all the great design - more could have been spent sound-proofing the rooms.”

“if you want ultra hip design and a weekend around beautiful people then look no further. however be prepared for some glitches. the room takes some getting used to, eg limited storage space and privacy, etc, massive noise issues late at night from the bar, and the night bar staff prefer to serve their friends and groups of pretty girls rather than attending to hotel guests. besides that we loved hanging by the uber cool pool area and the day staff were exceptional, extremely attentive and friendly. and we did love it so much that we are going back next weekend”

“The public spaces used the airflow really well. We never felt hot or uncomfortable. Basico was also quite centrally located in Playa de Carmen, which was quite nice. My girlfriend really liked the Tamarind Martini served in the bar...”

“I loved Basico and will definitely stay there again. The staff were amazing, and so helpful/friendly. The rooms were cool; I loved the pared down industrial style, but they definitely could have been better with just a few changes. Hooks for towels, a shower curtain that goes all the way around the tub so water doesn't get all over the floor, and better lighting are my main suggestions. The lighting was really tough, b/c it was always too dark at night. All in all, though, a stellar hotel. Great restaurant too.”

“I love Hotel Basico for its sustainability and also for their impeccable service. Everyone from housekeeping to the concierges were incredibly accomodating. The restaurant is also wonderful (though the menu is small). We will definitely be returning.”
